What's the best way to level your masteries in Janthir Wilds? FInd out more!

With the final release of Janthir Wilds, Absolution, two new masteries have been added! Whether you're catching up on existing masteries or training the new ones, this guide covers everything you need to know to maximize your experience gain and level them up as efficiently as possible.

Before diving into the new masteries, it's a great time to check out our Bonus Experience Sources guide, if you haven’t already. It provides a comprehensive list of ways to earn bonus experience, which can significantly speed up your mastery training.

Additionally, Janthir Wilds introduces three exclusive experience-boosting sources that are active within its content:

  1. Lowland Expertise – A stackable buff available from Renown Heart vendors after completing their tasks by acquiring , which increases 10% Kill Experience
  2. Lowland Kodan Mastery Track – Grants a 5% Kill Experience bonus while training Lowland Spear Training, which increases to 10% upon unlocking Scavenger of the Wilds
The classic way everyone knows about!

Dynamic Events have been a core feature of the game since the very first zone. Designed to keep exploration fresh, these events offer a variety of objectives as you progress through the world, revisit areas for achievements, level up characters, or simply pass the time between daily tasks.

Each Event has three reward tiers based on your level of participation:

  • Gold – 100% of the reward
  • Silver – 85%
  • Bronze – 75%

Note: Rewards are halved if the event fails.

Successful events typically grant Experience, along with additional rewards such as Karma and Gold. The base experience reward is from 17,780 to 26,670 XP per Event, which can be further increased with consumables and other All Experience bonuses.

Lowland Shore Events

Events are generally divided into two categories: Easy Event and Hard ones. While Easy Event can usually be completed solo, it’s highly recommended to bring a group or be confident in your combat skills when facing a Hard Event.

Lowland Shore Events

Janthir Syntri Events

Just like in Lowland Shore, events are categorized as either Easy Event or Hard ones. If you're facing a challenging encounter and need assistance, consider activating a Commander or Mentor tag to call for help from nearby players.

Janthir Syntri Events

Mistburn Barrens Events

Due to the unique design of this zone, all Dynamic Events here are considered comparable to Hard ones in terms of difficulty. As such, bringing a group is strongly recommended!

  • North Meta Events – This event chain takes players through the Agony Field and concludes with one of three possible final encounters.
  • Middle Meta Events – These events occur in the central region of the map. Some are part of a short event chain, while others are standalone.
  • South Meta Events – Found in the Bloodstone Fields, this set features two possible chains that both culminate in the same Dynamic Event.
  • Sniff Events – Special events triggered by using Warclaw's Sniff near specific locations. A champion enemy will spawn and must be defeated within a 10-minute timer!

Mistburn Barrens Events

They are dynamic events too!

Even though they are technically Dynamic Events, Rift Events will be listed separately due to their unique mechanics.

To spawn a Rift Event, players must use Scan for Rift and follow the energy trail to its source. Once the correct location is reached, interacting with the Mist Rift will trigger waves of enemy spawns. After the initial event is completed, a boss may appear at the same location, with both events providing rewards!

To unlock Scan for Rift, you must complete the second chapter of either Secrets of the Obscure or Janthir Wilds, though only Secrets of the Obscure unlocks its associated Mastery Track.

Higher-tier rifts require additional items to activate and offer different rewards. However, since this guide focuses on mastery leveling, all tiers provide the same amount of Experience. Therefore, Tier 1 Rifts are the most efficient: they are soloable and faster to complete, making them ideal for experience farming.

Below is a guide to the best location for consistently farming that sweet, sweet Experience!

Mistburn Barrens

While these can be found across every zone in Janthir Wilds, Mistburn Barrens stands out as an ideal farming location. Why is the Mistburn Barrents the best location to farm Rift Events? There are only two possible Mist Rift spawn points, making it easy to predict the next location—it will always appear at the alternate spot.

Below is a map highlighting both rift spawn locations and the recommended route between them. Be sure to Mount up to speed up your farming runs and maximize efficiency!

If you don't believe it, they can give a lot of XP too!

As detailed in our Bonus Experience Sources guide, many sources specifically boost Kill Experience, so let’s take full advantage of them!

Additionally, the game includes a lesser-known mechanic called the exploration bonus. The longer a creature remains alive in the world, the more bonus experience it accumulates... up to more than double its original value! This system encourages players to roam and hunt diverse enemies rather than spawn-camping the same area.

We can turn this mechanic to our advantage. Since all Kill Experience bonuses also apply to the exploration bonus, it’s possible to earn over 12,000 XP from a single creature under the right conditions.

Important: This applies to any non-critter enemy. If the creature’s name appears in red or yellow, it will build up exploration bonus. So yes... hunting down deer, birds, and even fish can significantly accelerate your mastery leveling progress!

Up next is a recommended farming route and guide for both Lowland Shore and Janthir Syntri. As for Mistburn Barrens, it's excluded here since it's best utilized for farming Dynamic Events.

Lowland Shore

The recommended farming route begins at Astral Ward Moon Camp Waypoint and stays mostly on land. Be sure to tag every enemy you encounter, as this ensures you gain Experience from each kill. If you're farming with a friend, sharing boons can help both players benefit from every enemy tagged.

The final leg of the route takes place in the water. It’s full of fish... lots of fish! Don’t skip them. These aquatic enemies tend to survive longer and often accumulate a significant exploration bonus, making them extremely valuable for fast leveling.

Lowland Shore Enemy Farming Route

Janthir Syntri

Just like in Lowland Shore, this farming route in Janthir Syntri begins on land at Forager's Hunt Waypoint and ends in the water. The approach remains the same: tag every enemy you see to maximize your Experience gain.

Be cautious of titanspawn enemies, as some of them can engage you from a distance. Use your Warclaw's ability to mount while in combat to reposition quickly or escape if needed.

This route deliberately avoids the northwest area of the map, as it's populated with elite enemies that are both slow to kill and fairly dangerous, making them inefficient for mastery XP farming.
