Guild Wars 2 Ascension Guide: How to Craft the Legendary PvP Backpack

is a legendary backpiece that can be obtained by playing the Player vs Player (PvP) game mode. You don’t need to be good at Player vs Player (PvP) to acquire this backpiece, you just need to play enough to get every Achievement and currency necessary; You also do not require any expansions to get this backpiece, so it is free to play friendly!

This guide will be divided into four main steps, each one being one of the four items you need to craft your legendary backpiece.

To craft , you will need to play PvP to complete certain Achievements and earn various currencies. One core item you will need is the , obtained by combining four . For that reason, if you don’t own them already, select the Glorious Reward Track on the Reward Track menu. The will let you choose a , and award you with a guaranteed one, meaning you’ll need to complete the track two times, if you select the both times!

The first key item is the , an item obtained through a series of Achievement chains named Year of the Ascension. All of the achievements here will be related to just playing Player vs Player (PvP), although some of them require crafting specific items.

This part will probably be the most time consuming, since it requires you to play a lot of sPvP games. It comes with something positive: If you have played Player vs Player (PvP) before, these Achievements will be partially done!

You will need to complete the four parts of the Year of the Ascension, each of them awarding you with a unique specific item that will be essential to craft . You can always track your progression on the Player vs Player (PvP) category in the Achievements section of your Hero dialog.

To start, you will need to get some pretty straight forward Achievements, all of them in ranked matches. For the first part you will need:

Complete one League track.

Win 15 ranked matches.

Win three ranked matches in a day.

Kill 30 players in ranked matches.

Complete two profession Achievements. This means you have to win five ranked matches with at least twp different professions.

Earn 25 top stats in ranked matches.

Obtain 40.000 rank points from playing ranked matches.

Winning a ranked match awards you with 1.500 rank points, while losing awards you with 500. You can also earn extra points by:

• Five extra rank points per Top Stat at the end of each match.
• 10 extra rank points by declaring you are ready for the match at the beginning of a game.
• Play three ranked matches at least 15 different days.

There are two Achievements tied to buying certain items. Go to the League Vendor in the PvP lobby, next to the [Market Waypoint]. There you will need to buy:

• , costing 10 PvP League Tickets.
• , costing 25 .

Keep both of them! will be used to craft an item needed to complete the Achievement, while will be used later to craft the Ascended precursor backpiece .

The final Achievement will make use of the Mystic Forge. You need the following items:

• 20 Vial of Powerful Blood
• 50 Vial of Potent Blood
• 250 Pile of Bloodstone Dust

By combining them, you will get both the Achievement, and a .

Part I of the Year of the Ascension will award you with , one of the four items necessary for .

The second part continues with very similar Achievements, needing both more total stats and buying different items:

(Keep in mind these are additive to the part one, meaning these are new objectives that you start from zero, not new tiers).

Complete two League tracks.

Win 30 ranked matches.

Win four ranked matches in a day. (You will need to complete these Achievements on different days!).

Kill 70 players in ranked matches.

Complete there profession Achievements. This means you have to win five ranked matches with at least three different professions.

Earn 50 top stats in ranked matches.

Obtain 60.000 rank points from playing ranked matches.

Play three ranked matches at least 15 different days.

It is time to go to the League Vendor again. For now you will need to buy:

• , costing 20 PvP League Tickets.
• , costing 50 .

Take the to the Mystic Forge, with the recipe below:

This recipe will award you with a and will complete the Achievement.

Part II of the Year of the Ascension will award you with , getting you the second item to get the .

We keep grinding! This time we need to:

Complete three League tracks.

Win 45 ranked matches.

Win five ranked matches in a day.

Kill 120 players in ranked matches.

Complete three profession Achievements. It will now require you to win seven ranked matches with at least three different professions.

Earn 75 top stats in ranked matches.

Obtain 80.000 rank points from playing ranked matches.

Play three ranked matches at least 15 different days.

On the League Vendor, you’ll buy:

• , costing 30 PvP League Tickets.
• , costing 75 .

Take the to the Mystic Forge, with the recipe below:

• x 50
• x 250

This recipe will award you with a and will complete the Achievement.

Part III of the Year of the Ascension will award you with , and that means we only need one more item!

The final part of the Year of the Ascension, We’re almost there! These are the final steps:

Complete four League tracks.

Win 60 ranked matches.

Win six ranked matches in a day.

Kill 200 players in ranked matches.

Complete three profession Achievements. It will now require you to win 10 ranked matches with at least three different professions.

Earn 100 top stats in ranked matches.

Obtain 100.000 rank points from playing ranked matches.

Play three ranked matches at least 15 different days.

Visit the League Vendor one last time and buy:

• , costing 40 PvP League Tickets.
• , costing 100 .

Take the to the Mystic Forge, with the recipe below:

This recipe will award you with a and will complete the Achievement.

Part IV of the Year of the Ascension will award you with .

You do not need any of the Mystic Essences to craft , but don’t throw them out either! Once you’re finished, go to the Mystic Forge and throw these items:

This recipe will award you with a , an ascended amulet which is both stat selectable, and core to creating a different legendary item: .

Go to the Mystic Forge and combine the following items:

The Mystic Forge will award you with the , the first main component of !

You’ll need these ingredients:

can be obtained through two main methods, although there are other ways. You can randomly obtain them by recycling ascended Weapons, Chestplates and Leggings using an or .

You can also craft them, but you will need level 500 Armorsmith, Artificer, Huntsman, Leatherworker, Tailor or Weaponsmith. The recipe consists of:

• x 5
• x 5
• x 1

The can be bought on the League Vendor, which you already know very well, costing 5 PvP League Tickets each, for a total of 25 PvP League Tickets.

Finally, for the , you need to combine x 4 by double clicking on them in your inventory. You earn them at the end of the Glorious Reward Track, on the . You get one guaranteed, plus an extra one if you select it as your reward.

Combining the four items in the Mystic Forge will award you with the , the final component to create !

A very short step, since you’ve already done all the necessary buying required!

The Mystic Forge awaits you, where you should throw the previously acquired , , and .

You will be rewarded with , the precursor backpiece to . You may use the backpiece, select its stats and even transmute it, but keep it close, since you will need this item for the final craft!

This is the biggest gold sink in the craft, requiring a lot of expensive material which you can earn in many places in the game. You will need:
