Work in Progress:
  • Some encounter mechanics still have unclear consequences when failed, or may not be working as intended. Make sure to check in frequently in the following days for updates!

Last update: 10:PM UTC: Added screenshots of vital mechanics, added screenshot of boss movement abilities, added in-game tooltip for many attacks. Corrected minor typos and descriptions.

So far, two things seem to stand out in this encounter:

  • The boss will gain stacks of Empowered when a mechanic is failed (similar to Cerus), or when a player dies. These stacks can be removed as the encounter progresses. Each stack will increase outgoing damage and reduce incoming damage to the boss.

  • Players have their own personal stacks of Ascenscion, starting at 10 stacks. These stacks seem to be removed by certain boss attacks. Removal of all stacks from a player will result in that player's death.

  • This boss has a decent amount of movement around the arena. Group Superspeed can be very useful during the fight if you can bring it!

  • Certain mechanics can corrupt player boons. Mind your positioning!

There are two types of Green mechanic in this encounter:

  • The first consists of three green circles that each require three players to be solved. These greens should not be stacked together! Similar to Greer, stacking these greens on top of each other will cause players inside it to take massive damage and likely Down, as well as granting the boss stacks of Empowered. This mechanic will happen shortly after the fight starts, and a few more times as the fight progresses. Targets Fixated player along with two other squad memmbers.

  • The second type of green is smaller, and will target three players with a chain tether which will Float into the air away from the boss. The Float effect can be countered with a stun-break, allowing the player with the green to move freely again. This type of green mechanic requires two players to be solved.

Failing these greens with insufficient players cause the players inside it to take damage, lose a stack of Ascension, and be afflicted by Float. The latter can be countered by Stability.

One player will periodically be Fixated during the encounter. Many of the bossess standard attacks will target this player in every phase, but more importantly, it also dictates where the boss will target its current movement ability, which appears to be based on its currently wielded weapon.

Staff Movement Ability

Ocassionally, the boss will fire a slow, giant orb in a line towards the Fixated player, marked by an orange line on the floor. The orb will inflict Slow and Burning to players in its path, and when it reaches the end of the line, the boss will teleport to its location and launch a massive shockwave around him that applies Knockdown to player struck.

Spear Movement Ability

  • The boss will do a spinning attack while moving along the orange line instead, leaving a damaging aoe along its path.
Sword Movement Ability

The boss will attempt to pull players in and teleport away. Players pulled into his previous location will be teleported and suffer heavy damage and boon corruption.

After some time, the boss will teleport to the middle of the arena and summon Elite and Champion weapon Aspects.

Weapon aspect phase.
Weapon aspect phase.
  • Defeating at least the Champion rank aspects has been observed to make them drop orbs; collecting them removes stacks of Empowered from the boss, and refills Ascension.

  • After defeating a certain amount of aspects, marked in the event UI right below the boss's health bar, the boss will gain a Defiance Bar. Taking too long to destroy it seems to cause a room-wide nuke that will downstate the squad.

  • Breaking this bar seems to give the boss 10 stacks of Empowered, but will also drop additional orbs of energy to collect, as if defeating a Champion Aspect. Additionally, the boss will change its wielded weapon, along with its attack pattern.

Irregular Behavior:
  • Currently, the boss seems to behave incorrectly during this phase if the squad has too-high damage and ignores both the Aspects and the Defiance Bar, allowing you to hit the boss freely for far more time than seems intended.

  • The boss may also gain a buff that renders it immune to physical damage during this phase, which is only stripped after defeating champions and breaking its Defiance Bar. However, at the moment it does not seem to appear consistently in every phase.

Edit: This has been supposedly been fixed as of Sept 16. 10:00pm UTC, testing required to see if the fight behaves as expected now.

The boss has numerous attacks that change as the encounter progresses. Specifically, the seem to be tied to the boss's equipped weapon. Additional attacks will be classified on the list as they are observed.

The summoned weapon Aspects during the middle phase will also use variations of these attacks, which can quickly overwhelm the group if ignored unless group support is reasonably strong.

Staff attacks

  • Frequently the boss will fire off a spread of numerous of purple projectiles that will deal moderate damage. These seem to be blockable with Projectile Block, such as or . This attack may happen in different patterns; at least one cone, two cones, and a spinning spiral pattern away from the boss have been observed.

Spear attacks

  • A large attack telegraphed by three large red arrows will happen ocassionally. The red arrows will leave behind a translucent field that will slightly knock back players attempting to cross it.

  • A large, wide-angled orange cone will be highlighted, followed by a flurry of quick Spear stabs shortly afterwards. Combined with the transluscent walls from the arrow attack, these can severely limit safe movement space.

  • Spear projectiles will sometimes rain on a targetted area on the ground, indicated by an stationary orange circle. These will deal heavy damage.

Sword attacks

  • The boss will fire a series of 8 semi-circle attacks in quick succession that will deal high damage if ignored, starting at one side and turning 45 degrees with each swing. Each of these swings will spawn a spinning sword that will move in a slow straight line. They decide their initial trayectory based on a random player's position, and behave similar to Desmina's scythes. They will also corrupt boons in the same fashion!

  • Another attack has the boss swing its sword several times, causing smaller semi-circle areas that quickly echo the initial swing and cover a wide area.

Others:

  • A small flurry of orb projectiles will sometimes rain on a targetted area on the ground, indicated by an stationary orange circle. These will deal moderate damage.

  • Another type of orange circle will ocassionally the Fixated player and two (sometimes only one?) additional players. Players targetted by it should move away from the group during this attack, as the resulting explosion will leave a lingering area of effect on the ground. Despite the description, it is unclear if this is a Spear attack or a neutral attack.
