Discover the best way to spend World Ability Points in Guild Wars 2 WvW. Prioritise Warclaw, gliding, supply and siege masteries, learn how to earn WXP faster, choose the best boosters and improve WvW rank progression.

World Ability Points are an account-wide progression system in World vs World (WvW) that unlocks a wide range of benefits. These include access to the Warclaw and War Gliding, as well as improvements to Supply Capacity, siege equipment, Building Siege Equipment, Repairing Walls and Killing Guards.

Each time an account gains a WvW Rank, it receives one World Ability Point. These points are shared across the account, but each character can spend them independently, allowing different characters to use different ability setups.

Up to 10,000 World Ability Points can be earned, although only 1,085 are currently required to unlock every available ability.

The skills can be reset, and all points regained at the World Ability Master; twice per character for free, or an unlimited amount for 25 each. This makes it possible to adjust a character’s abilities whenever priorities or preferred World vs World (WvW) activities change.

In general, Warclaw Mastery and War Gliding Mastery should be the top priorities, as they provide important mobility and traversal options.

Provisions Mastery is another strong choice, offering a range of useful quality-of-life benefits. The most important of these being auto-loot!

After these, points should be invested in:

  • Supply Master
  • Supply Capacity
  • Build Master

Next, focus on Siege and Guard-related abilities.

During group play, Flame Ram Mastery and Catapult Mastery are used in the overwhelming majority of situations, making their upgrades particularly valuable. Players who prefer roaming alone or in a small group should consider Guard Killer and Defense Against Guards, as these abilities make it easier to capture camps and defeat NPC guards.

Players who regularly command groups or operate other types of siege can prioritise the relevant siege masteries earlier. Priorities can also be adjusted to match a server’s playstyle or the role the player usually performs.

After unlocking the most important masteries, the remaining points can be spent according to personal preference. Choose abilities that improve the activities enjoyed most or unlock tools that support a preferred World vs World (WvW) playstyle.

World Ability Points are earned through WvW Ranks, which makes early rank progression a quick and easy way to gain them.

After reaching WvW Rank Five, each subsequent rank requires 5,000 World Experience (WXP). This is earned through most activities across WvW maps, including capturing and defending objectives, defeating enemy players and guards, and consuming Liquid World Experience.

Several boosters and buffs can significantly increase the rate at which World Experience (WXP) is earned. Some of these also increase Reward Track progress, while others require a choice between faster rank progression and faster Reward Track progress.

World Ability Level Up

For more information about these bonuses, see the Reward Track guide.

Bonus Source WXP Increase
WvW Experience Bonus 50%
Celebration Bonus or 100%
Experience Bonus , , or 50%
Nourishment Ascended Feasts 10%
Guild Experience Boost Guild XP Gain 3–10%
World Experience (WXP) 10%

Situational and event-related bonuses: Objective Aura 2, Outnumbered, Call of War, and Call of the Mists.

Combining compatible World Experience (WXP) bonuses before joining an active WvW squad or capturing objectives can make the levelling process considerably faster.

World Abilities provide useful benefits, but most are far from mandatory. Once the Warclaw has been unlocked and War Gliding Mastery has been fully trained, a newer account can participate in World vs World (WvW) much like an account at WvW Rank 10,000.

World Abilities do not directly provide additional rewards, although progressing through WvW Ranks can still be valuable for earning more pips.

For most players, these abilities should be viewed as gradual quality-of-life and efficiency improvements rather than requirements for participating in World vs World (WvW).
