The highly anticipated Visions of Eternity expansion is just around the corner! While the top PvP builds will take a few days to settle, now is the perfect time to dive in and experiment with the new elite specializations. Whether you want to test them out for fun or start theorycrafting to discover the next meta, this guide has you covered.

In this quick guide, you’ll learn the essential steps to create a powerful PvP build from scratch.

First things first you need a clear direction.

  • What is the goal of your build?
  • Which role do you want to fulfill in PvP?
Support Builds

On a Support build you want to provide as much value as possible to your allies.

Focus on selecting traits and skills that Heal teammates and offer Condition Cleanses.

Another key aspect is maintaining strong boons such as Stability and Protection. Adding some Crowd Control can also increase your overall impact in team fights.

These builds will always run an and .

Roamer Builds

Roamers often participate in team fights but have the flexibility to disengage quickly and move to another fight when necessary.

This archetype typically focuses on high mobility and strong burst damage. Many Roamers do not rely on heavy sustain, but it is always wise to include some defensive options in case you get caught.

When building a Roamer, we recommend using for Power builds, or for Condition Damage builds.

Teamfighter Builds

Teamfighters aim to deliver strong damage along with soft and hard Crowd Control. Necromancer and its Specializations have historically been excellent teamfighters thanks to most of their damage and pressure coming from AoE abilities.

Adding some survivability is also important unless you plan to rely entirely on a Support, similar to a build like Condition Reaper.

Similar to Roamers, use or , whichever fits your main damage type.

Duelist

Duelists may sound simple in concept but they are actually the hardest role to make work. You need to strike the right balance between damage and sustain.

Their main strategy can rely on a burst combo to quickly eliminate an enemy or on forcing opponents to burn through their resources. Alternatively, they can apply slow and consistent pressure, often through Conditions.

Some builds, such as Strength Spellebreaker, lean heavily toward one approach, but these are rare and difficult to optimize.

Duelists offer the widest variety of viable amulet choices, so this decision is left to the discretion of the crafter.

It is crucial to select traits that complement your playstyle. Duelists and Roamers will almost always rely on very selfish traits. On the other hand, Teamfighters should first secure the damage traits they need to perform and then aim for some supportive abilities, even if it is just one or two traits.

Always check the current meta builds for your specialization, especially if they match the role you want to play. This will give you valuable insight into which traits and skills perform best.

Most specializations have a key traitline that is almost always a strong choice. Discipline and Invocation are great examples of this.

Sigils and Runes should always come last when making your build. They're here to either emphasize a side of your build if you feel like it needs a little boost, or try to mitigate its weaknesses.

A Necromancer will usually get Health and Condition Damage from their rune to fully commit to the class playstyle and usage.

On the other side, most supports run very defensive runes with Toughness and Vitality. They don't need the extra Healing Power some other runes could bring.

Same goes for sigils: and are the best defensively. They are usually always ran on at least one of your Weapon Sets, but can be ran on both if you feel like you lack defense and sustain.

On the other hand, agressive weapon swap sigils like can give you the extra damage you wanted. Condition Duration and are also great to use on any class with relevant damage or condition output.

Sigils and Runes should always be the last step when creating your build. Their purpose is to either enhance a specific strength of your build, if you feel it needs a boost, or help mitigate its weaknesses.

A Necromancer will typically choose Runes that provide Health and Condition Damage to fully commit to the class playstyle and complement usage.

On the other hand, most Support builds use very defensive Runes with Toughness and Vitality. They generally do not require the extra Healing Power that some other Runes offer.

The same principle applies to Sigils: and are among the best defensive options. These are almost always included on at least one weapon set, and can be used on both if you feel you lack defense and sustain.

For offense, aggressive Weapon Swap Sigils like can provide the extra damage you need. Options that increase Condition Duration and are also excellent choices for any class with relevant damage or condition output.
