General Guardian Tips

You can cancel the aftercast of two skills;

  • by auto attacking afterwards
  • by weapon stowing

If there are multiple targets in range of the boss, you can use inside the boss's hitbox for extra hits.

Always use inside the boss's hitbox to maximize the number of hits.

So where does this build get its damage from?

This build revolves around the maintaining both Aegis and Retaliation. Aegis is needed due to the 20% modifier from in Virtues. Retaliation is needed due to the modifier from and in Radiance.

Your Aegis sources are either from your Chronomancer, or from .

Your Retaliation is covered from your , , , and . Your produces Retaliation due to the trait in Radiance. All of your Virtues also apply Retaliation due to the trait in Virtues.

Your trait , in Radiance, means that you never need to worry about your Critical Chance. This means that it doesn't matter if you have or not.

Heal and Utility Variations

You mostly run due to its short cast time and the large amount of heal you get out of it.

is a good choice in well coordinated groups as you can use weaponstow to cancel the animation but still keep the block, however this removes any kind of heal from the skill.

If you are lacking condition cleanse, you could drop for .

If you need Stability and can absolutely trust that you won't need an additional Aegis, you could drop for .

Trait Variations

On CC heavy fights, like Samarog and Slothasor, you should take instead of . These traits can be found in the Radiance trait line. This will cause you to lose some Critical Chance and therefore you need to also take and a on your Greatsword instead of .

If you are taking it means that you should be using to help CC. This will also buff your allies with the passive effect from for 10 seconds. Try to use towards the end of the breakbar to make sure your group benefits the most from the buff.


Spirit Vale

General Guardian Tips

There are a few sources that can strip your Aegis here so you need to be fairly careful.

  • - The auto attack from Vale Guardian.
  • - The ticking damage from standing inside the AoE circle of a Seeker.
  • - The Blue AoE circles will strip on spawn and when they trigger the teleport.

To reapply your Aegis you can use or . If you are struggling with Aegis uptime, you can always play Dragonhunter. See the Dragonhunter guide here.

You can use inside Vale Guardian's hitbox to get the maximum hits, assuming that Seekers are near. You need to be careful that you don't get your Aegis stripped. You should also go inside his hitbox whenever you use .

If Vale Guardian is about to phase you should save your burst. Don't waste any traps as he will go Invulnerable and you will want your burst to kill the Blue Guardian as quickly as possible.

Use to regain your health after has triggered. This will get you back up the full health within a second or so and make sure that you get the benefits from .

Split Phase

If a green explodes just after Vale Guardian phases, then you can use to help heal up your group at the Blue Guardian.

You may find that you drop Retaliation as you move into the split phase. If this is the case then you should use before you start your burst as you will gain Retaliation due to . You can also gain Retaliation from any of your Virtues due to the trait .

Use during the split phase to make sure you maintain permanent Quickness.

General Guardian Tips

There are a few sources that can strip your Aegis.

  • - The auto attack from Gorseval.
  • - The Knockback from Gorseval.
  • The adds that spawn after the breakbar phase can strip your Aegis if they are not cleaved down quickly.

Use or to repplay your Aegis after . If you don't have either of these skills ready you will need to dodge to ensure that you maintain the buff from .

Make sure to always stand behind Gorseval to avoid getting hit by as this will strip your Aegis.

You can use inside Gorseval's hitbox to get the maximum hits, assuming that there are adds nearby. You need to be careful that you don't get your Aegis stripped by an auto attack when you do this. You should also go inside his hitbox whenever you use .

Breakbar Phase

You can use during the CC phase, so you can continue your burst rotation throughout. Just make sure that you stop your burst if runs out due to slow CC.

If you are seriously struggling with CC then you can take in the Radiance trait line. This means that you will need to take and on your Greatsword. Use towards the end of the breakbar to make sure your subgroup benefits the most from the buff.

Split Phase

During the split phase you can use Whirl Finishers in Light Fields to cleanse Weakness. The Charged Souls pulse AoE Weakness around them and will slow down your split phase if you can't clear it. You can use to cleanse the Weakness if you still have it when Gorseval returns. This will also top you up with Retaliation due to .

Use to get quickly from one Charged Soul to the next.

Use during the split phase to make sure you have permanent Quickness.

Base Guardian can work at Slothasor if you have a Chronomancer that is proactively pulling in Slublings however with poor add control it will make it nearly impossible to have acceptable Aegis uptime.

General Guardian Tips

There are a few sources that can strip your Aegis.

It is fairly easy to keep almost permanent Aegis on Samarog due to his slow attack rate and clearly telegraphed attacks. As long as you are always standing behind Samarog and jumping the you should never lose Aegis.

Your rotation should sync up nicely with each breakbar phase. Try to open up after each breakbar on Greatsword.

The only annoying part for Aegis uptime is during the split phase, as you need to stay behind Guldhem permanently.

Use to Immobilize Rigom during the split phase.

Breakbar Phase

Don't waste your burst while Samarog has his breakbar up or is about to go into his breakbar.

To help with CC, take instead of . This way you can proactively use on the breakbars. Use it towards the end of the breakbar so your other DPS classes gain from the effects of . Remember to take and on your Greatsword.

If your squad is still struggling with CC then you can take instead of .

General Guardian Tips

There are a few sources that can strip your Aegis.

Playing Guardian here can be fairly annoying as you are forced to dodge every or it will strip your Aegis. If you decide to block it you will need to make sure that you have or available. Assuming this is true you can reapply your Aegis instantly afterwards.

will strip your Aegis not matter what you do. Always make sure to have or ready. You can use this to your advantage by continuing DPS on Deimos and ignoring the central bubble of protection.

For the rest of the encounter just stay behind Deimos and do your normal DPS rotations.

Prides and Greeds will strip your Aegis if any of them manage to reach Saul, so remember to apply it accordingly. These adds can be used as additional targets when using . The hands and also count towards , so make sure to stand inside Deimos when using this skill.

Use to Immobilize the Prides to stop them from damaging Saul.

Split Phase

During the split phases you shouldn't hold back on your rotation. Most of your skills have a very short cooldown and will be ready by the time you return to Deimos.

Use when you are teleported if you see that your Quickness is dropping.

General Guardian Tips

There are a few sources that can strip your Aegis.

  • - The auto attack from Dhuum.
  • - The green AoE circles that spawn after each .
  • - The glowing fractures that spawn on the ground will strip your Aegis when they explode.
  • - The small AoE created when Dhuum teleports will strip all boons.
  • - The "Soul Split" attack will strip all boons.
  • - The pull from Dhuum that strips boons.
  • - Strips every tick that it is active.

Dhuum is a fairly easy encounter to maintain permanent Aegis on. Although it seems as if there are a lot of ways to lose your Aegis, all you need to do is stand behind him at all times and you can avoid all these attacks. The only thing that you cannot avoid is , once you've received it. You can avoid ever getting the mechanic by never being the closest person to Dhuum.

If you have Spiders up near Dhuum you can use them for additional targets when using so make sure you stand inside Dhuum's hitbox.

After the , if your Druid is being lazy with condition cleanse you always have the option to use . You will also need to reapply your Aegis with or .

Always use and inside the boss's hitbox to maximize the number of hits.

Always do your burst combos while the tether of is active and the boss stands inside a Symbol due to in Zeal and in the Dragonhunter Trait Line.

has multiple charges and therefore there will be times when you can use it outside of the buff from . If you are doing this, make sure to always have a Symbol down.

Remember that on Focus you have which gives you access to three blocks. This might be a life saver. If you don't trigger all blocks, it will explode and deal a decent amount of DPS.

Certain mobs in Spirit Vale and Salvation pass will trigger the trait . This trait will reset the cooldown of allowing you to use it more frequently. For example, on Slothasor killing a Slubling will trigger this trait.

Heal and Utility Variations

If you have a second Dragonhunter in your group you definitely will have permanent Retaliation without the need for . If you have Chronomancers that are running Chaos - Inspiration in your subgroup you also don't need to take .

On encounters with split phases or encounters which can force your squad to be spread out it might be worth it to take instead of . This will help keep up Quickness and can be very useful on encounters such as Matthias.

Trait Variations

You should be using your traps during the split phase as you want to burst down the Blue Guardian as quickly as you can. Save your for the Green Guardian to help with CC.

You can place on Slothasor before he turns hostile to give him Swiftness. This way he will approach your team a lot faster.

Killing a Slubling will reset your so make sure you keep an eye on it's cooldown. A higher uptime of will lead to better personal DPS.

If your Chronomancers are not pulling in Slublings efficiently, you can use to help pull them in. If they are pulling well, you can us inside the hitbox of Slothasor for a DPS increase.

You can use to block the attacks from the Slublings if add control is bad. You can also use to block the flame breath and to block the Fear once Slothasor is broken.

You can use to cleanse two conditions from yourself if you get hit by .

You can use and to help you deal with and to get back to Slothasor quickly.

You will be lumbered with taking the second mushroom at Slothasor. You can use or to get the mushroom quickly. Make sure to move there after the second breakbar has been broken.

If you aren't going to CC the bombers and instead want to give Desmina some blocks, you have plenty of sources for Aegis.

Aegis and any form of block will stop the ticking damage while running on the River of Souls when you are outside of the protective bubble.
