Jade Bot Core

Mechanist is a versatile class that can cover many roles without major changes to its playstyle. With some trait and gearing swaps, a Mechanist can do Power Damage, Condition Damage, or provide Alacrity to their subgroup.

Here are some basic notes to begin with:

  • Completed Sword Auto Attack chains will reduce the Cooldown of your other Sword skills. Use Sword 2 when it is available to upkeep the bonus damage from .
  • Although you can manually control your Jade Mech skills with F1, F2, and F3, you can also set them to Auto Cast before an encounter with Ctrl + Mouse 2.
  • Use if standing at medium range is required by mechanics, but switch back to Sword as soon as you can get back into range.

As with all Modular builds, add in the various Modules below to modify your playstyle as your personal needs change. Each will increase complexity but also the damage and utility without drastically changing the core concept.

Swapping your Main or Off Hand weapon will allow you to customize your utility and damage output to the encounter.
Main Hand: Sword vs Mace

Being a one handed weapon, Sword only has one additional skill to add to your rotation.

  • 3 : A Leap Finisher with good damage and Cripple. Use is off Cooldown. This will also cause your Jade Mech to cast providing some Defiance Break.

If you are missing the relevant expansions and do not have access to Sword, you can replace it with Mace at a moderate damage loss. If you do, use both skills off Cooldown:

  • 2 : Applies some Barrier and is a Leap Finisher.
  • 3 : A Projectile Finisher with Defiance Break. Your Jade Mech will also cast , providing extra Defiance Break.
Offhand: Shield vs Pistol

The off hand Shield provides defensive options with decent Defiance Break and is the default choice.

  • 4 : A channeled Projectile Reflect and can be used again for a Blast Finisher as well as a Knockback.
  • 5 : A channeled Block that can be activated again for Daze.

You can swap your off hand weapon to Pistol for more damage if you do not need the Defiance Break. If you do, use both skills off Cooldown:

  • 4 : Great damage. Always use in melee.
  • 5 : Ground-Targeted skill that Immobilizes and then pulses Cripple with good damage.
Signets and Utility Swaps

allows you to use your Signets and still maintain their passive bonuses. Many have useful secondary functions you can work into your rotation.

  • can be used resummon your Mech if it gets defeated. In an encounter where this is not a concern, use the signet off Cooldown for great damage.
  • is a powerful tool to reposition yourself and your Jade Mech while Cleansing Conditions. Ground-Targeted.
  • provides decent Defiance Break via Knockback and Cripple.
  • can be swapped to for a passive 12% damage reduction. The active ability will provide a long project block with some Barrier.
Switching to an Alacrity Boon DPS

By swapping your Mechanist Trait Line to the following, you can easily provide Alacrity and other boons to your subgroup:

The trait allows the Mechanist to provide Alacrity whenever they or their Mech applies Barrier to an ally. To add enough Concentration, do the following:

  • Swap your Relic to . Your Mech will apply enough boons to maintain the maximum bonus.
  • Swap some Dragon's pieces to Diviner’s pieces to taste, aiming for 15% to a max of 30% Boon Duration. Swapping out your accessory, leg, and chest armor would be the most efficient swaps, but other pieces can be swapped as needed.
  • If you are struggling to maintain uptime or want to swap out less gear, there are two additional options to provide barrier. If you use both, then swapping the Dragon's accessory to Diviner's is technically enough to maintain 100% Alacrity uptime but both need to be used off Cooldown:
    • Swap to and use it when available.
    • Swap Sword to Mace and use 2 as available.

Note, as you will no longer have , save your Signets for emergency use only as you will no longer maintain their passive bonuses when they are on Cooldown.

Next Steps

If you are ready for more, consider swapping to the Power Scrapper Raid build or the Condition Mechanist Raid build as both will always outperform this build for raw damage. The condition build especially has very little extra complexity over this build with all modules.
