Look no further, as this article will cover the best sources one could make use of!

In a general PvE context, Bonus Experience items come in two different flavors: Kill Experience and All Experience.

The first is only applied to enemies killed in combat, whereas the second is applied to all sources, including opening some chests, completing events, fractals, strikes, raid encounters and more.

Also, as long as they are different sources like the ones mentioned in this pace, you can stack them for a hefty amount of Bonus Experience!

There are aditional sources of bonus experience other than the ones listed, but they are either map-specific, like which only works on Lake Doric, or are hard to come by, like that is only obtainable during Wintersday.

Aditional explanations for each of the listed methods!
Nourishment

The Experience Bonus comes in three different flavors when the subject is foods:

  • 5% Bonus All Experience
    • Every ascended feast, like , or even fishing ones such as
  • 10% Bonus Kill Experience
    • Most food items in the game, from to
  • 15% Bonus Kill Experience
    • A few specific foods yield this value, with being a winner, as it is both cheap and lasts for 45 minutes!
    • Birthday cakes buffs from and also give this amount!

PS: There is a fourth group that gives 1% Bonus All Experience, but they are not worth using as a 10% Bonus Kill Experience food can easily outclass it in efficiency when farming.

Enhancement

While most Enhancement items give 10% Experience Bonus, there are a few exceptions (and they are all from April Fools!)

  • , and for 5% Experience Bonus, don't use these for farming, just for fun
  • for 20% Experience Bonus!
Experience Enrichment

These require an ascended trinket in order to be used!

  • can be obtained for 10 Laurels from Laurel Vendors
  • can be selected from , a reward from the achievement Frode's Journal (requires Secrets of the Obscure). Additional copies can be obtained from Laurel Vendors for 20 Laurels + 1

  • (masterwork), in the other hand, is the Laurel version, costing 1 Laurel from vendors. They can also be obtained from , which have same source as , listed above

Guild Experience Boost

To obtain this:

  • You need to have a guild with Guild Enhancement: Experience researched!
  • Then you need to represent that specific guild. This is attained by selecting the checkbox to the side of the guild name
  • Finally, you need to locate our big buddy Nathan the Bartender in the Guild Hall, and buying the Guild XP Gain option, don't worry, it doesn't have any cost even though it is on a shop interface!
Guild Experience Bonus

There are two different sources for this specific Experience Bonus:

  • can be obtained with:
    • and a few silvers from Guild Commendation Traders for players that can obtain this currency by participating in guild activities
    • + + from Gharr Leadclaw or
    • or from Dugan in WvW, limited to 2 for each source weekly
    • from Glenna in Mount Balrior or Tante after completing associated Legendary equipment collections. It is not recommended to trade these unless necessary as they are used as kill proof in order to join groups
  • , obtained with spare , which are rewarded from anniversary gifts of characters that complete 10 or more years and also from the Decade of Dragons achievement series
Festival Gobbler Boost

All the options here come from Gem Store!

  • , obtained from during Dragon Bash. It consumes 25 in exchange of Festival Gobbler Boost or
  • , obtained from during Wintersday, exchanges 5 for either Festival Gobbler Boost or
New Year's Gift

This specific buff is obtained whenever any firework is used in your inventory, but to use it again, you need to either Weapon Swap or use its associated skill. There is a trick, however, that is using the item while Mounted, this way you can click it non-stop to stack buff duration up to 2 hours!

It is recommended to check the buff wiki page to verify which is the cheapest firework to use. Generally it is , but it can vary.

Enlightenment and Ancient Canthan Secret

Enlightenment is obtained by completing Monastery Training in Seitung Province. Underneath is the map for this Heart, the recommended order is Jumping Puzzle → Combo → Defiance Break → Dodge → Painting (if needed).

  • If the event happens to be there, make sure to do it as it is quite fast and can fill the heart rapidly!
  • For Jumping Puzzle, buffs like Swiftness and Superspeed can make you cross over large gaps, also make sure to use your Glider whenever possible
  • The way to complete Combo is to generate a Combo Field and then make Combo Finishers inside that field. Mouseover your skills to check which generates what and, if your weapon set doesn't have combos, check all your utilities and class mechanics
  • For Defiance Break, wait for Defiance Training Mech to open its Defiance Bar and then use Crowd-Control on it. If applying Crowd-Control via conditions like Slow and Immobilize, you will break the Defiance Bar yielding more Heart progress
  • In Dodge you should... dodge. The only hard to dodge mechanic is the shockwave, that can be jumped through or dodged as soon as the NPC jumps, not when the growing ring appears
  • If you finished all the other tasks and still need Heart progress, go to Painting zone and press the buttons with the correct icon (a circle)

After finishing the everything, Ancient Canthan Secret can be bought from Grand Master Kyren for 1050 Karma.

Resting

Resting can be obtained in many different ways:

  • Parking a character in Arborstone if Arborstone masteries are trained, with value varying from 5% to 25% Experience Bonus depending on progress
  • Staying a while in the Wizard Tower if you trained Astral Amenities, starting already at 25% Experience Bonus
  • Leaving your character in Homestead if Homestead masteries are trained, varying from 5% to 20%. It is important to note this one is different from the one obtained in Arborstone and Wizard Tower, as it yields less Experience Bonus but adds up to 8% bonus PvP and WvW reward track progress
  • Resting in Chair, which will yield 5% Experience Bonus if no masteries are trained or extend Arborstone and Wizard Tower buffs

Buff duration can be obtained even when the character is offline. Resting from Homestead will not overwrite the other ones.

Black Lion Booster

can be occasionally obtained in in-game promotions such as Evon Gnashblade's "Birthday" Celebration, but the main source is .

Due to the rarity of this item, it is only recommended to acquire it if there is a urgent need of Experience, or if many spare are availble.
